About Me

I am an artist living in Cumbria, working from my studio in Hilton near Appleby. Born and raised in Kendal, I qualified as a theatre set designer and spent a couple of years in the colourful environment of the theatre before joining the Royal Navy. After a rewarding naval career serving around the world I returned home to Cumbria to pursue my first love, painting. 

I am passionate about the countryside and our wildlife and use watercolour, pastel and oil to capture the landscape, wildlife and flowers around me in the stunning Eden Valley.

I also enjoy teaching people the joy of art and hold watercolour workshops for small groups in my studio and for larger groups at venues around the local area. I am one of the founding members of the annual Art in the Mart at Kirkby Stephen and I’m responsible for the art and craft tent at The Fellside Royal Dufton Agricultural Show.
